Mouka Tišnov: More than 180 years of tradition, quality, and innovation
MOUKA TIŠNOV, s.r.o. is a proud successor of a family tradition dating back to 1842, when our ancestor, František Mouka, established a rope-making workshop in Tišnov. From humble beginnings producing ropes and cords for agriculture and industry, we have evolved over more than 180 years into a modern textile company specializing in the production of woven non-elastic straps and bindings.
Our History
The story of our company is one of innovation, perseverance, and honest craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation.
Family Roots and Early Steps
In 1842, František Mouka founded a rope-making workshop in Tišnov, which gradually expanded and modernized. Even then, his products were used not only in the region but also in surrounding towns and villages. His son, František Mouka Jr., took over in 1879 and continued developing the family business, focusing on improving production and searching for new materials.
The third generation, represented by Antonín Mouka, introduced significant innovations at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Antonín, trained in Vienna, brought modern knowledge and technology, enabling the expansion of the product range to include nets and straps. In 1907, the company relocated to new premises at Koráb 133, where it remains to this day. This move allowed for better work organization, higher production, and meeting the growing demands of the market.
The Impact of World Wars and Economic Changes
Under the leadership of Jiří Mouka, who took over the company in 1940, the business participated in international trade fairs, including the prestigious Leipzig Fair. Unfortunately, post-1948 events led to the nationalization of the company and its incorporation into several state enterprises. Despite this, strap production continued, although the Mouka family had to relinquish direct management of the company.
Throughout this period, maintaining quality and tradition remained crucial. Thanks to these efforts, in 1992, the family tradition was revived when MVDr. Jiří Mouka, representing the fifth generation, privatized the company.
After privatization, we invested in modernizing machinery and technology, enabling us to expand our product range and enhance quality. In 1999, we obtained the prestigious ISO 9001 quality certification, which we regularly renew.
Present and Future
Today, we are a modern textile company that combines tradition with innovation. Under the leadership of the sixth generation, Ing. Hana Brázdová and her husband Ing. Ivo Brázda, we employ approximately 40 experienced workers. We specialize in custom manufacturing of woven straps and bindings for a wide range of industries, including:
✅ Sports (straps for climbing, paragliding, ballooning, etc.)
✅ Safety (straps for working at heights, police, military, rescue services, etc.)
✅ Automotive (straps for the automotive industry)
✅ Pets and equestrian products (straps for harnesses and collars)
✅ Bag making (straps for backpacks, bags, cases, belts, etc.)
Each year, we produce over 900 types of straps and export to 30 countries worldwide. Our products are sought after for their durability, precise craftsmanship, and high-quality materials.
In 2018, we launched a new production hall equipped with modern technologies such as heat pumps, heat recovery systems, and smart lighting, all of which have contributed to improved working conditions and increased production efficiency. In 2023 and 2024, a photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 100 kWp was commissioned, and 250 photovoltaic panels were installed. We anticipate this to reduce electricity costs by up to one-third.
Social Responsibility and Regional Support
As a family business, we recognize our role in the community and have long supported regional culture, education, and sports.
We collaborate with local schools and organizations focused on technical education. We regularly host student excursions, allowing them to explore the manufacturing process and modern textile technologies. Additionally, we support charitable organizations that help disadvantaged individuals and participate in fundraising initiatives.
Our Values
Tradition – Building on more than 180 years of experience.
Diversity – Offering a wide range of textile products for various industries.
Quality – Our products meet the strictest standards and regularly receive quality certifications.
Thanks to these values, we maintain a strong market position and remain a reliable partner for customers in the Czech Republic and abroad.
Gratitude and Future Outlook
We sincerely thank our customers, partners, and employees for their trust and support. Without your contributions, we would not be where we are today. Our goal is to continue expanding our production capacities, investing in new technologies, and supporting the development of the textile industry both locally and internationally.
We look forward to future successes and to continuing our family tradition for years to come.
